Depo Provera question
Depo Provera question
Hey,
I had my depo Provera a week or two ago. When I had it, the nurse told me not to massage the injection site. However, just yesterday I’ve accidentally banged my injection site quite hard, and now I’m worried if that could effect it. I assumed the massage thing just meant for the first day or two, rather than the full 12 weeks. But I’m not really sure. Any advice please? Thanks

Re: Depo Provera question
Hey 55 -- it's my understanding that what the nurse told you is more relevant to the first few days after injection. Also, keep in mind that a bang or bump is a lot different than a massage, with the latter being really focused on manipulating muscles and the former being a quick and usually unrepeated motion. As long as the injection site is not swollen, itching, or burning excessively, you should be fine.
