Late period

Unread post by Ray_yay »

Hi Scarleteen team!

I wanna start this off by saying that I haven't had sex with my boyfriend at all in the past month, so pregnancy is definitely not a possibility here.
My period is like 7 days late now, and I have no idea why. I've been having symptoms of a period for the past 4 days or so (cramps, dry discharge, fatigue), but no blood. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is it normal? I usually have pretty frequent periods, the latest my period has ever been was three days. I also haven't made any changes to my lifestyle or anything in the past month (well, except for breaking my leg and having to walk with crutches, but I don't think that really has an impact on periods) and I'm also not on birth control yet (which i know can affect periods), so I'm very confused.

Thanks in advance for your response and have a nice day! :D

Hi Ray_yay,

Late periods or even skipped periods can occur on their own with no obvious cause or any health concern. I remember you saying your period came a few days later than expected in February so it could also be that your period isn't late so much as your predictions for when it will come being early.

If your cycle keeps being really irregular and causing you stress that is also something you can speak to your doctor about, it's possible a general health check could show some issue you could get help with. Otherwise variation in a cycle can indeed just happen!

I hope that helps!
