Scare?

Unread post by hiii_837372 »

Me and my boyfriend had sex and he had a condom on but somehow the condom got stuck 1/4th of the way in me and when he pulled out he pulled the condom out with it. The condom wasn’t shriveled inside me and he didn’t feel a heat difference so while during the act i believe his penis still went in the condom? he didn’t cum inside me or at all for the fact. Should this be a pregnancy scare?

Hi there, Hiii!

There may be some risk of pregnancy in this situation, though it is lower than it otherwise would be since your boyfriend didn’t ejaculate. Don’t worry, we can figure out what you should next together.

Largely, your course of action depends on how much risk you are okay with. If you are regularly using a backup birth control method, you can go ahead and assume you are protected. If you are okay with the small chance that you might have to get an abortion, you could wait to take a pregnancy test. Otherwise, you might consider using emergency contraception, to err on the side of caution.

That’s what i was thinking very low risk, but since he didn’t feel any change of warmth, doesnt that mean the condom did its job?? because we were 15 minutes into the act with it on and when he looked it was just off yet he said he didnt feel a difference in the temperature.

Hey there!

To clarify, did the condom become fully or mostly removed at any point? If it remained on the entire time, there is no risk to pregnancy.

Ah, okay! I hear you. I also agree with Latha that there is a small risk of pregnancy here. If you do not want to become pregnant and are uncomfortable with the risk involved, it is a good idea to seek emergency contraception. Is that something you’d like help accessing?

how could i get it? The condom was also never removed off him at any point it remained on him it’s just the fact that when he saw it was stuck 1/4th of the way in me, we questioned it because he never felt a change of warmth. So i’m thinking he got a little soft since we took a 5 min break before the condom even got stuck in me and when he pulled out to check the condom slipped out of him?

It appears that you’re in IL, so thankfully in your case Plan B is available at pharmacies without a prescription. Just to check, did this risk happen less than 72 hours ago? That’s the timeframe of effectiveness for Plan B.

I will say, if the condom remained intact and on him for the entirety of genital contact, you can assume it did its job. But, if it’s a bit unclear whether or not it remained on during genital contact, it may be a good idea to seek out emergency contraception (like Plan B from the pharmacy) if you do not wish to become pregnant.

yes this happened yesterday! i believe the condom did its job though as long as my boyfriend knows he didn’t feel a change in temperature then it should’ve done its job.

Hello again!

It does seem fair to assume the condom did its job — it sounds like you know how you want to proceed! As usual, getting your period is a sure sign that you are not pregnant. Otherwise, if you want, you can take a pregnancy test in two weeks.

Let us know if you have any other questions! If you would like, we can talk about ways to pair condom use with another contraceptive. (We often recommend using two methods because it reduces risk even if one fails.)

Hi Hiii:D

So, there are many methods of contraception, and they have different ways of preventing pregnancy, like hormonal or barrier methods, different effectiveness and prices and different availability and accessibility. Thankfully, we have this amazing resource that you can click through and based on a few simple criteria it can help you find what methods might be the best for you: Birth Control Bingo

Let us know if it was helpful and if you need any clarification or more questions pop up when reading it, we are happy to help with those as well!
