Texting a guy

I have been fired for six months but when I was working at my old job there was this co-worker who would always say hi to me give me high fives, Bassically it seemed like he really wanted to connect with me. But when I got fired he never reached out. 6 months later I reached out and said hi. To my surprise he replied back and said hi. And to whoever is reading this I want you to keep one thing in mind when I sent these texts i was not in the right mental state when I sent the texts so anyway. He says hi back and what do I say. "You asshole." To give you some context once again he really seemed like he wanted to connect with me so I expected him to follow me back on Instagram so when he didn't I was a little hurt but I thought bringing it up would be a playful way to start a conversation and prevent small talk. Obviously he was confused why I called him an asshole so he sent a question mark and I was like I checked my following list and saw that he was there but not following me back. Then I was like anyway how are you. Of course that conversation was incredibly awkward so he left me on seen. When I got into the right mental state I realized how embarrassing that text is and I feel like the world is ending. Can someone please talk to me no- judgement because I know I messed up but I need help. i really don't want to loose him in fact I want to start something with him but I messed up. Can someone please tell me what to do next and be nice.

Hi Baggy, I think all you can do is apologize if you get the chance! But otherwise you might need to let it go.

The world isn't ending, but for some reason you did send that text and we can't always control how someone will react to messages like that, regardless of what our intent was at the time!
