ovulation/scare

Unread post by adeliaa23 »

Hi! I took nomegestrol acetate for about 60 days and then stopped. Right after stopping, I had bleeding for around 7 days, which I assumed was my period (with mild cramps and all). My doctor mentioned that stopping the pills would reset my cycle.

About a week later (July 15), I noticed egg white discharge for only 2 days, which I assumed was ovulation because thats how It usually is. But now, on July 22, I'm seeing similar cloudy or egg white discharge again. I'm a bit confused. can you ovulate twice in one month? Or is this something else?

also on july 15 I dry humped with my bf, we had underwears on but he precummed so im a little bit scared as well :')

You can ovulate twice in one month. It's uncommon, but after using progesterone for a couple of months, I'd also not be surprised if things are a bit weird for a while when it comes to your cycles. Too, ovulatory mucus isn't ever cloudy: it's stretchy and clear, like the egg white mucus you described.

Predicting ovulation, or even knowing when it is happening, isn't often as easy as only considering mucus, just for the record. If you really want to know, moving forward, when you have ovulated or are most likely to, you'll need to chart your mucus and basal temperatures daily (not only paying attention when it's ovulation mucus), on top of looking at menstrual patterns. If you want to find out more of that, you can check out: Get With the Flow: All About FAM.

The sexual activity you're describing isn't the kind that has the possibility of creating a pregnancy (you can't get pregnant with clothes on), so there's no need to be concerned about that.

It started off as cloudy, but now I'm seeing A LOT more stretchy, egg white like discharge. My breasts are also hurting, and I have mild cramps, so I'm feeling really confused. Could this still be from the pills, even though it's been over three weeks since I stopped taking them?

Hi there, Adeliaa23

It could possibly be from the pills, though we can’t say for sure — your cycle can vary for many reasons. You did take them for two months, so it may take a while more for any side effects to go away. The important thing here is that you don’t have to worry, even if this is ovulation. There is no chance you could be pregnant from the situation you described, and ovulating twice in a month isn’t a cause for concern. All you have to do is manage the discomfort of your current symptoms until they go away.

Let us know if you would like help with that, or if you have any other questions. <3
