I don’t have access to sex toys so i use the handle of a hairbrush as a sort of makeshift dildo and I’m nervous because I experience debilitating cramps and extremely heavy bleeding, I’m afraid it might have something to do with it and idk pls help :C

Hi Sillybilly, and welcome to the boards!

I am so sorry to hear you’re having these debilitating cramps and heavy bleeding. I have a couple of questions so I can understand a bit better first, if that’s okay! Does the bleeding start after you use the hairbrush, or are you referring to the bleeding and cramps that happen during your period? Too, is the hairbrush handle painful for you?

In any circumstance, if you’re experiencing debilitating cramps and heavy bleeding, it’s a very good idea to consult with a doctor. Are you able to make an appointment with a gynecologist to address this, or would you like help seeking medical care?

Referring to the cramps i have during the period, the hairbrush handle isn’t painful for me at all during or after the act and i don’t experience any bleeding outside of my period, and tbh i think i was just overthinking it, i think it’s very unlikely that it actually has anything to do with that but i am going to be seeing a doctor at some point about the cramps. Tysm for the help

Just a note: whether or not it is related to this pain (and it probably isn't), inserting a hairbrush handle that is either not covered with a barrier like a condom or which you cannot boil or otherwise sanitize is a bad idea, just like it'd be a bad idea to do that with a sex toy where the situation was the same. Wood and plastic alike are porous and can hold bacteria which could result in an infection.

But debilitating cramps should always be investigated by a healthcare provider and never assumed to be just how things are. Are you able to access that kind of healthcare?
