Question about Scarleteen: vents vs questions
Hi there,
Just asking this question because I am autistic and struggle with ambiguity. I also struggle with understanding etiquette/what is expected behaviour.
Just wanted to ask if Scarleteen is an appropriate place to vent/ask for emotional support rather than just asking sex ed questions. I have been struggling with my sexuality in a way that feels unique and that I feel very alone in. I am not sure where to go to talk about this/feel connected/feel less alone. I have psychological support so I am not looking for that, just community and a sense that I am not abnormal or alone. So far I have found I feel most comfortable about the idea of posting my feelings here. But I am aware that Scarleteen is mostly a place for questions and don’t want to mis-use the resource.
Thank you.

Re: Question about Scarleteen: vents vs questions
Hello, Rapidlongitude!
I appreciate the question! Yes, you can vent and ask for emotional support here. Though answering questions is a big part of what we do, our boards are meant as a community space, where people can support one another. Discussing your feelings about your sexuality is especially appropriate, because so many people here have struggled with it in some way or another. We have a section of the boards meant for support (Supporting Each Other), but you could also post in Sex and Sexuality.
(While we are on the subject, the boards are also open to more general conversations about all the topics we usually cover here: sexuality, gender, relationships, feminism... anything you might think to ask a question about, really.)
Just in case, I want to let you know that if you do ever misunderstand etiquette on the boards, we won't be mad. We'll just talk to you, and ask for a change that will help.
