Trouble masturbating

I'm 15, I know masturbation is normal and everything, and I've definitely hit puberty. But whenever I try it I end up getting really close to finishing, or at least I think so, and then this kind of pain builds up and I stop, it sort of feels like I need to pee super bad but I don't actually.

Hi there and welcome to the boards!
I am glad to hear you have a grasp on the fact that masturbation is normal and quite healthy. For context, so we can best help you out, is this the first time you are exploring masturbation? In the meantime, here's a helpful article on the basics.

Thank you for the reply, it is my first time, I'm raised in a pretty liberal household and had what I consider good sex ed from my parents, and they provided resources like the planned parenthood website for topics like masturbating. But I didn't really feel comfortable asking something this personal, and I couldn't find anything online. To clarify on the feeling itself, it's not like a really worrying pain, and the time building up to it is pleasurable, but I just get kinda worried and stop.

Hi Judyj,
Thanks for sharing that context! Love to hear about sex positive parenting! And it's completely fair to look for extra resources to ask your questions as well:)
If you are a vulva owner, the pain you're describing might be easily fixed by adding more lubrication between your finger and vulva. Here's a good primer on lube from our articles:
Quickies: Lube. If you are a penis owner, it would be helpful to know if you notice ejaculate following the pain. Here's a good primer on penile discharge from our articles:
What’s Coming Out of My Dick?? The Low Down on Penile Discharge. If you let us know which one is relevant and how those suggestions are landing for you, we can help you more directly.
That being said, pain can be a sign of infection so I am also wondering, do you feel the painful sensation daily or does it only happen after masturbation?

Thank you for the reply, I'm a penis owner, I should've been more clear, the pain is only present during masturbation and subsides quickly once I stop. Like I said in the first question, it's hard to explain, but it's less of a pain and more of a pressure or just an urge. I read the article and none of the discharge described comes out of my penis, I am circumcised, and I have only ever ejaculated via wet dreams, never during masturbation, which I only just started.

Ah, that context is helpful! Thank you!
It makes sense to feel a bit of pressure or urge before orgasm, so that might be what you’re experiencing. Also, I hear you say it’s less of a pain and more of that intense sensation. Would you say it’s a bad feeling or a good feeling? If it feels painful and bad, it’s always a good idea to stop, but if it’s a bit more of a complex feeling that feels good to you, it’s all good!

It's not really bad, just super strong. Like I said in the first answer, the best way to describe it is like a need to use the bathroom, it's not really painful but a little uncomfortable and intense. What do you suggest, should I try and just push through it or what?

I wouldn’t push through any discomfort, but if you feel like you want to continue when you feel that sensation and it feels okay or even good to do that, you can certainly do so! Just to check, do you typically urinate before masturbation? It may be a good idea to do so if you don’t currently do that.

I tried it and peed beforehand, that was a huge help, thank you so much. I had an orgasm and wow was it worth it. The little discomfort was there, but only for a second and then I was orgasming. Thank you.
