Soft dom/general safety book recs?

Unread post by sevenswords »

I've read New Topping & New Bottoming. I'm not engaging in any causing any physical pain, but I am worried about hurting someone. Are there any books focused on safety/ethics/consent & communication I could read?

Hey sevenswords,

Ok so I have a few recs for you, but to preface, I haven't read all of them, just been suggested, so I hope they are what you're looking for.

- The Heart of Dominance by Anton Fulmen (I have heard is a good beginner's guide to steps and consent, but is not as big on the whole ethics conversation, more so just a practical guide.)
- The Deep Psychology of BDSM and Kink by Douglas Thomas (this is where you get your ethics commentary and how we can navigate the pleasure in power through psychology)
- Why Are People Into That: A Cultural Ivestigation of Kink by Tian Horn (not as much a practical guide, but a really good read for learning about why we even engage in kink to begin with, and a good one to look into if you want to learn more about domination/submission as a part of historical culture that goes far beyond us.)

Is this the kind of thing you're wanting to find? Let me know if you want any other recs!
