Really weird thought about sexual organs

Recently I’ve started to wish I was born with the opposite genitalia (a vagina) but I am confidant in my gender identity of being nonbinary. I worry that there’s something wrong with me. I didn’t know where else to post this, sorry.

Hi there, Gravity!

No need to apologize. It seems like your post is focused on your gender identity, so it could go in the gender section on the boards, but it is also okay for it to be here.

Would it help to hear that there is nothing wrong with you wanting a vagina, and if you do, that does not have to change anything for your gender identity? There is no contradiction between wanting or having a vagina and being nonbinary. If I may ask, what leads you to worry that there is something wrong with you?

Thanks for the reply.

I’m pretty sure it’s just my ocd being a jerk for no good reason, but I feel like there’s a part of me that’s missing that I don’t know what it is. I did put a bit more thought into it, and I don’t think my issue really lies with my genitals, rather, I think I worry that I’m too masculine to be nonbinary.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to go about actually getting gender affirming care, but I always worry that my family is going to think I’m just ‘copying’ my transgender sister.

Hi Gravity,

I will reiterate what Latha said that there is no contradiction between being masculine and being nonbinary. Gender identity and gender expression are two different parts of who you are. I found this advice columns in our archives which reminded me of your situation with yoru parents. Have a read and let us know if it ignites any ideas for yourself!

I feel like my body is wrong, but my parents say my feelings are wrong.
