super embarrassing topic, considered making a whole new account, also considered not posting this since it might be medical? unsure. hope not! trying to write this with some humour about the whole situation.

for context, i have a vulva. i've avoided masturbation in the past since i've always just felt like i need to use the bathroom when i do, and then when i properly try to go for it i'm proven mournfully right. maybe it's just orgasm and i squirt? but if that's the case i can't possibly see why anybody would ever masturbate or have sex. it doesn't feel good, it's just a nice buildup, then either i get bored or gradual build-down after the "squirting". it sucks!

to be clear: i do feel genuinely aroused when i masturbate, i do not have a piss kink, i've done some reading and i'm pretty damn sure at this point i'm not just squirting, i do genuinely enjoy feeling aroused and would like to be able to do more.

is this somehow normal?? is this abnormal enough that i should see a doctor? is it possible that i'm doing something wrong? any theories?

Hi there, this is not too TMI and it's also not embarassing! It's actually quite normal.

While I can't say for sure, of course, it sounds like this is ejaculation, or "squirting". I'm sure you already have, but just to be sure, I wanna ask if you are peeing right before masturbating? If so, and you feel you're emptying your bladder when peeing, and you're masturbating right after... I doubt that you're fully peeing again. It's not impossible, especially if you've drank a ton of fluids, but not as likely as it just being ejaculation. Just something to try, as it could help eliminate the possibility that you're just peeing.

thank you! i read the article, didn't realise that could happen without orgasm or before orgasm and that the amount varies. it's a good amount, and i thought that the word "squirt" implied a tiny sprinkle. and i do usually empty my bladder beforehand, if i remember, but for some reason it's often harder to become aroused if i've done so? thank you very much for the advice!

If it does feel like a lot of fluid, despite going pee beforehand, and you do feel like you have to go to the bathroom even when you already have, I think it's worth a healthcare check-in just to be sure you don't have something like a mild UTI you've been walking around with for a while, or an overactive bladder, since lack of treatment for those things can do everything from create chronic discomfort to making you pretty sick. But if you get the all-clear from your doctor, then you can assume this is ejaculation.

It might also be that the pressure your bladder puts on the nerves around your vulva and vagina creates more arousal for you: that's not uncommon. Chances are you can duplicate that to some degree simply by focusing on a larger area of your pelvis than you might be when masturbating, like by also applying pressure and touch to the mons and the outer labia and inner thighs, where there are also portions of the internal clitoris and its nerves.
