i have a crush on my tattoo artist
i have a crush on my tattoo artist. we matched on tinder about a year ago, i’m not sure if he remembers or not but i’d really like to get to know him more than just my artist — how can i go about this? or should i just chalk it down to a silly crush and not make things weird?

Hi avaiara,
I generally caution people against asking someone out who they only know in a client/service provider capacity. Part of that is because it can be hard to read signs of interest when someone is in customer service mode, and also because it can feel weird on their end to be flirted with or asked out by a customer. So, your instinct to just ride the crush out might be a sound one.
I do think there's a caveat where if you met each other outside of his work organically (introduced at a party, had a shared hobby, ect) and had more of a chance to get to know each other that way, there might be more room to explore the crush.

And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.
