Strange period + Nuvaring start date

Hi all, quick question: I am going back on Nuvaring after a 6 month hiatus. I know that I am supposed to put it in during the first 5 days of my period, however this month my period acted strange (which is unusual for me, as I am very regular): I bled lightly for a day and a half on the date that I was expecting (June 6th), then my period stopped, and I got a heavier period on June 17th which is now finishing (the usual length and amount for me). So what would be "the first 5 days of my period" in this case? I plan to use additional protection anyhow, but I just want to know when it makes the most sense to put it in, or if makes no big difference at this point.

Given that there was over a week between bleeding, I would count the 17th as day 1, and put it in tomorrow.
