Confusing because of trying new things

Hi, it's really confusing for me that drinking alcohol has many effects but somehow everyone drink alcohol... I'm just thrilling to try beer as I reach to a appropriate age but I really doubt and I am hesitant about it...

*Also I should say that By appropriate age, I mean the age my family is okay to do this
